Arrow UEL open day success Despite the snow, UEL had nearly 500 people visit both campuses for January's open day, with over 30 offers made. Corporate Marketing would like to thank everyone who helped make the open day such a success! The next open day will be a Offer Holder event taking place on Saturday 23 March. Arrow Chartwells Fair Initiative To help UEL remain one of the top Green and Fairtrade Universities our catering supplier, Chartwells, tries to be as green as possible. Arrow The TraD project announces winners of research survey
The TraD project on managing research data recently ran an online survey for staff and research students to understand their needs and practices. Two prize draw winners were chosen: Dr Mahwish Hayee (HSB) and PhD student Mohammad Choudhury (LSS). Responses will feed into the planning of support for research data management (RDM). Arrow TfL require feedback on proposed Cycle route – Have your say on the proposed plans for the Barclays Cycle Superhighway Route 2 from Bow roundabout to Stratford town centre. Arrow Help unlock cycling funding – UEL has joined Barclays Cycle Superhighways programme which offers the possibility of receive funding for improved cycling facilities, as well as access to training and workshops. To access the funding UEL needs at least 30% of staff to respond to the quick cycling survey to unlock up to £11,000 worth of funding credits to improve our cycling facilities. Arrow Solar power pennies– From December 2011-2012 UEL has earned £2,725.63 in revenue from the Feed in Tariff payments for the SportsDock solar panels, generating 7584 kWh in electricity since their installation. That is the equivalent of supplying enough electricity to light 7,584 100W light bulbs for 10 hours.

Arrow Thames Water 2013 Outreach Campaign– A great opportunity has arisen for 15 students from UEL to visit local primary schools and teach workshops on water conservation and other environmental issues. Students will get professional training from Thames Water, this will be a great opportunity for students to gain presentation/workshop experience as well as getting involved in local schools and education. Arrow Nine Arts and Humanities Research Council awards up for Grabs Four of the New London Graduate School Partners( including UEL) are pleased to offer nine Arts and Humanities Research Council awards for Masters programmes and one Cultural Studies PhD award, available from September 2013.
The AHRC awards are available for Master's programmes in the following subject areas: cultural studies,dance, drama and performing arts, creative writing, film, digital and media production,

Arrow Free 'Monday's back- to- netball sessions' in SportsDock – Whether you played at school many years ago and would like to try again or have never played, come along and give it a go! Sessions are coach led and will cover the basics of the game from chest passes to foot work; these sessions cater for all abilities. Sessions are open to UEL students and staff and will take place on the following dates 4,11, 25 February and 4,11,18 March at 1-1.40 pm. Queries can be directed to Lucy Hantson.

Arrow UEL start 2013 with all wins– UEL started the season with a 100% success rate. The UEL netball team annihilated the University of the Arts seconds by 80-17, with strong performances from a number of individual players, a win that continues their unbeaten streak. Arrow Join UELSports for a Q&A session with Paul Newman the Daily Mail cricket correspondent– Paul Newman, the Daily Mail cricket correspondent will be, in UEL on Wednesday 6 February in WB 2.04, Docklands Campus from midday for a Q&A session, organised by the UEL Cricket Club. Paul will concentrate on the current England cricket team and set-up. He will also speak about his own career, how he got into journalism and on the forthcoming Ashes series.
