Infection and Immunity Research Group (IIRG)

Research within this group explores the role of infection and immunity in causing disease pathologies using the skills within our multidisciplinary team.

Objectives:

  • IIRG graphicTo elucidate the mechanisms that underpins the development of the immune system and the function of the immune response at both cellular and acellular levels.
  • To investigate potential virulence factors and other mechanisms utilised by pathogens compared to their less virulent environmental counterparts.
  • To study the interaction of host and pathogens that might influence clinical consequences or likelihood of infection.
  • Collectively submit applications for funding and actively pursue publication of our research findings.
  • Through working as research-oriented group, we will provide a scientifically stimulating environment to enhance and benefit the experience of our post-graduate research students.
  • The group will seek to sustain and further develop our collaborative research links both nationally and internationally.
