Description:
The £9,460,000Well London programme focuses on investment in local community-led projects promoting positive mental health, access to healthy food and opportunities to get more physically active. The programme is led by the London Health Commission brings together Central London YMCA as the lead for young people and children, Groundwork for physical activity and environment, London Sustainability Exchange on food access, SLaM for mental health and well-being and the Arts Council England to promote the use of art and culture. The programme will take a rigorous approach to methodology, monitoring and evaluation and this will be led by the IHHD University of East London.
Well London will operate in a target Super Output area in 20 London boroughs, each of the intervention neighbourhoods fall within the top 11% most deprived in London. These target communities, consisting of around 1,500 people will assess their own needs and priorities for action and we will work with them to develop projects that meet their needs and aspirations. This is the first time that this type of approach has been tried on a regional scale. Well London will benefit the whole of London by ensuring that the learning from these projects gets into policy and practice at regional and local level.
BIG lottery announced the success of Well London’s bid on 18th July, 2007
