Brief Biography:

Younghee Han is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for Health and Human Development, University of East London from 1 August, 2011 for two years. He is interested in social enterprises delivering public services and creating jobs in London and Seoul as well as community revitalization projects from London like the Well London Programme.

Before he came to London, he served as Director of Disability Welfare Division (2009-2011), Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul, Republic of Korea, planning and executing the 2011 budget of about 201 million GBP(360 billion KRW). He planned and organized Happiness Promotion Project for People with Disabilities in 2009 and 2010, reviewed and supported 36 social enterprises for the PWD in administrative and financial ways, set up Job information Centre for the PWD, supported the Disabled for Independent Living in Seoul. As Director of Tourism Promotion Division (2008-2009), he planned and supervised the 12 million Tourists Attraction Projects in Seoul and developed overseas marketing strategies, and restructured the Seoul tourism web portal www.visitseoul.net.

Since he joined the Government in 1995, he has worked as a deputy director in various fields including Competitiveness Policy Division, Foreign Investment Division, Cheonggye-Chon(river) Restoration Project Headquarters, Office of Digital Media City, Industrial Policy Division, and International Relation Division, etc.

He has a Master’s Degree in Real Estate from New York University (2003) and in Public Administration from University of Seoul, Seoul, Korea (1994) as well as BCs in Urban Management from UOS (1991). 

He has been awarded a two-year Government long-term Fellowship for Overseas Training from Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2010. And he was honoured ROK President’s Award for the Cheonggye-Chon Restoration Project in 2005.
