Brief Biography:

Mark is an experienced Senior Executive and CEO within the not-for-profit sector with a proven track record in using leadership, advocacy and influence to build a lasting legacy.

He is passionate about the creation of vibrant, healthy and inclusive communities and a society that provides opportunities and support for all to fulfil their potential. This passion grew out of his childhood in a divided N Ireland and has been developed through his lifetime of working as an educator, senior executive and CEO within the non-profit sector, primarily within the YMCA. Through these roles he has developed particular expertise in advocacy, health and in engaging young people at the heart of community.

As Advocacy Director at Central YMCA, Mark worked with UEL in the development, leadership and management of the highly successful Well London partnership project, which worked with 20 of the most disadvantaged communities in London using a community development approach to address health inequalities and raise levels of physical activity, mental wellbeing and healthy eating. He continues to sit on the Reference Group for Well London.

Mark is currently Director of M&KH Consulting, working with public and not-for-profit sector organisations in: community engagement and development; evaluation and research; work with young people; social enterprise; strategic planning and organisational development; public health; public policy and advocacy; and leading multi-sectoral partnerships as well as providing Interim CEO/Senior Executive roles within the not-for-profit sector.
