Graham is a faculty member of the London East Research Institute, UEL and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Open Creativity Centre, Open University. He also acts as a curriculum advisor for the Teacher-Artist Partnership professional development programme for London-based teachers and artists. He combines his part-time post at UEL with work as an independent consultant specialising in arts education, cultural policy and urban regeneration.
He has undertaken work for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Arts Council England, NESTA and Creative Partnerships. Current research includes work with the Interarts Foundation in Barcelona on participatory arts practice with young people, a book project offering a critique of Richard Florida's theory of the 'creative class', and a three year AHRC-funded study exploring the discourses of learning and inclusion in informal performing arts projects with young people.
Graham is a consultant for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and a board member of Urban Development. His work as a composer includes local and international film and theatre projects with young people supported by the British Council, LIFT and East London Dance.
