3.15-4.30 Workshops

1. Media research, coordinated by Jane Stokes, EBG.06

This workshop follows on from the very successful media research day held this semester in HSS - all are welcome, whether they participated in that conference or not. The workshop will be exploring plans to create a media group and/or network based in the School. Please get in touch with Jane if you're interested in attending.

2. Conflict and post-conflict research, coordinated by Maja Korac, EBG.05

This workshop is planned as a brainstorming session for people involved in research in and about conflict and post-conflict situations, to find out more about each other's research, as a first step towards building research plans in this area. Please get in touch with Maja if you're interested in attending and would like to talk about your work.

3. Feminist research methodologies, coordinated by Rumana Hashem and Corinne Squire, EBG.09

The suggestion for this workshop came from Rumana Hashem, and the idea is to feature a few brief presentations by Rumana and others to stimulate discussion about feminist research frameworks in the school, on the basis of what's already going on, and what we'd like to do. Please get in touch with Corinne if you're interested in attending and would like to talk about your work.

4. Practice-based research, coordinated by Roshini Kempadoo, Ananda Breed, Mark O'Thomas, EB.101

This workshop will build on the success of the 'practice as research' session at the 'publications' day this semester - everyone is welcome, whether or not they were at that session. There will be some short presentations, and an opportunity to discuss a range of practice research issues.  Please get in touch with the coordinators if you're interested in participating.

5. Visual research, coordinated by Marta Rabikowska, EB.103

Many colleagues in HSS use visual methods in their work, or are interested in doing so. This workshop will allow people to discuss methods and methodologies in this area which can be applied across different fields and research projects. In addition, more and more frequently funding bodies require interdisciplinary teams which contribute with with different expertise: the workshop will encourage the development of a 'visual research' group from diferent disciplines which can meet those demands.  Marta's particular interest is in visual ethnography. Please contact her if you'd like to participate, with any suggestions you might have.

6. Environmental and mobilities research, coordinated by Rachel Aldred,  EB.1.4

Work on these topics happens across HSS but researchers do not often meet; others may be planning research in these fields, also. Please contact Rachel if you'd like to come along to this workshop, with any ideas about what you'd like to present and/or discuss.

4.30-5 Plenary feedback session, EBG.06
