The School offers supervision in a wide range of areas for the degrees of MPhil and PhD (Postgraduate research supervision expertise) These programmes may be undertaken on either a full or part-time basis.
If you are considering applying for a MPhil/PhD you should read this information before submitting your application form. If after reading it you would like to discuss the degrees further, please contact Dr. Susannah Radstone, the School's Postgraduate Research Coordinator. You can also visit UEL's Graduate School webpage.
Postgraduate research degree candidates normally hold a first-class or second-class honours degree, or equivalent qualification, in a subject relevant to their proposed field of research. Applicants without such qualifications may be accepted in special circumstances but they will have to demonstrate their suitability by taking examinations or by other appropriate means, both before and during their studies. Places will be offered after a successful interview with selectors nominated by the School's Admissions Committee.
Applications from EU and international students are welcomed. Candidates whose first language is not English must provide evidence that their English language is sufficient to meet the specific demands of their study. Candidates will normally be expected to have obtained the British Council IELTS with a score of 6.0 (British Standard) or TOEFL 550 (American standard). If otherwise strong applicants do not meet these requirements, selectors could make an offer conditional on the satisfactory completion of a pre-sessional English course run by the English Language Centre.
