Most modules are taught by a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops. There are also practice-based modules that use technical equipment and technician support in the Multimedia Production Centre. Every effort is made to make our teaching as varied and student-centred as possible in delivering the learning objectives of each module.
In general, the aim of lectures is to provide students with a concise overview of a topic and a model of how to think about a given subject. These are often supplemented by audio-visual or other teaching aids.

The purpose of seminars is to involve students in critical dialogue, towards clarification of key ideas and development of thinking. Seminars thus require students to participate in discussion and to assume responsibility for learning. To facilitate free expression of thoughts and doubts, tutors try to foster a non-judgemental, open learning environment.
In tutorials students have the opportunity to discuss academic work directly with their tutor, either alone or in small groups.
Workshops take a variety of forms. Characteristically, their objective is to apply knowledge and/or acquire technical competence, think critically and creatively, and develop the capacity to work in teams.
