How do I inform my Local Education Authority of Change of Pathway/fees/year change?

We don’t produce the letters but a confirmation needs to come from the Helpdesk to be sent to our Student Records department. The letter is then sent directly to your Local Education Authority.

What scholarships / bursaries are available?

UEL Standard Bursary - 'Home' students who receive the full Maintenance / Special Support Grant and are being charged the maximum fee of £3,225 a year will receive £319 a year in the form of a Bursary. EU Students may be eligible for a discretionary bursary, based on having a household income that would have entitled them to receive a full grant as a UK student.

Payment is made directly into students' bank accounts and no application is necessary.

if you have queries please contact UEL Finance .

The UEL Progress Bursary is awarded to students who have successfully completed their first semester and returned for their second semester; successful completion is classed as handing in all pieces of work on time and attending all examinations. Eligible students will be awarded £500 in their first year and £300 in their second and third years. The Progress Bursary is paid in vouchers and can be used towards books, stationary, Oyster cards (Docklands only) and laptops from £500 at John Smiths Campus book shops, UEL Accommodation, UEL Nursery, UEL Field Trips and UEL Replacement Library Books; the later four can be accessed via UEL Direct. For further information www.uel.ac.uk/progress

Both of the above bursaries are open to New Full Time 'Home' or EU students; a new student is one that joins us from 2006/7 and is paying in excess of £3000 fees directly to the University.

Scholarships

To recognise the achievement of new UK/EU students who will be joining UEL on a full-time undergraduate programme we award 200 £1,000 Undergraduate Scholarships each year. Successful applicants will receive cheque payment in two equal instalments in November and February.

We would like to encourage all eligible applicants to apply for the scholarships as they provide a great way for you to support your studies and get off to a flying start at university. For more information go to the UEL Undergraduate Scholarships web site.

How can I get a Maintenance grant?

Full details of how to apply for a maintenance grant are available on the UEL student services website.

The Maintenance Grant is not available if you are eligible for means tested benefits (you apply for a Special Support Grant instead).

Note: If you receive the full or partial Maintenance Grant and are not eligible for means tested benefits the amount you can borrow on your Maintenance Loan is reduced. The Student Loans Company will adjust this for you provided you complete your application correctly.

How can I get a Refund?

All refunds are managed by the Finance and Registry Help Team, refund request forms Refund Request forms can either be handed in at the Credit Control office, Ground Floor of the Atrium (East Building) or emailed to finance.registry@uel.ac.uk.

Refund Requests will only be accepted on a refund request form, if you are having difficulty filling out the form please see the Refund FAQ's, if you are still experiencing problems please contact the Finance and Registry Help Team by email at finance.registry@uel.ac.uk.

Please note: we will only be able to begin processing your refund request once we have received all the requested and required information; not supplying us with this information will cause a delay to your refund request.

Refunds take 2-3 weeks to process once we have received all necessary information and documentation. However, during enrolment this process may take up to 6 weeks.
