How are award classifications made?

My module mark is above threshold but I have not passed the module, why?

It may mean that you have not passed a component within that module please check your module results via UEL Direct where a break down is given on each component passed within each module.

What are the threshold marks for modules / components?

The lowest mark allowed in a component for module to be passed. Generally set at 30% except where there are Professional and Statutory Regulatory Body requirements (this will be specified in the module specification)

In order to pass a module on reassessment a student must both achieve an aggregate mark of 40% and achieve the component threshold marks.

What happens if I fail a module at my first attempt?

All students are allowed 4 opportunities on a module in order to pass; after the first attempt you are capped meaning you will only receive a pass mark (40%). It’s important that you pass all you modules especially the core modules. You will need to pay for your 1st and 3rd opportunity. Opportunities will be counted as such even if you do not submit or attend the exams. If you do not pass a core module after 4 attempts you will be withdrawn from your programme.
