What does the term Pre-requisite mean?
You can come to the Helpdesk to register the modules where a temporary timetable will be given out to you for the week. Please check your UEL Direct account within the Timetable section for your official timetable print out.
For new students this is done during your induction week with a programme tutor. Undergraduate year 1 students should have a link in their in tray vial UEL Direct for module registration. Once completed this is automatically placed within your Timetable for viewing.
If you’re a returning student module registration can be completed either at the Helpdesk or sent via email to hsbhelp@uel.ac.uk once module results have been released.
The template for module registration/amendment can be found on UEL Plus within the School Noticeboard and Helpdesk documents.
Once your results have been released you should register your modules. Students are given 3 weeks from the start of each semester to register their modules. If you’re not registered for your modules you won’t be able to access any lecture notes on the module via UEL Plus.
You can log in to UEL-Direct, go to “My Record” and follow the link to module registration. You will see the modules you have registered for.
If your name is not appearing on the lecture list it means you’re not registered for the module. There could a number of reasons why you’re not registered for the module but you need to go to the Helpdesk at the next available opportunity to get this resolved. Please sign-in at the bottom of the attendance register to confirm that you have attended.
This depends on the structure of your programme. Programmes are made up of a combination of core and optional modules. Core modules are modules that you must study for your degree programme so these cannot be changed. You can, however, change your option modules within the first two weeks of teaching.
You can change modules within the first two weeks of teaching, but only if they are option modules. After the first two weeks you will not be permitted to change unless there has been an error. Students must not miss 3 consecutive classes (UEL’s attendance policy) so you cannot start attending a module after the first two weeks of teaching.
If you do change it will be your responsibility to ensure that you catch up on your new module.
Yes, if you request the deletion within the first two weeks, after that you can be withdrawn from the module, but you cannot be deleted from the module. You might also incur a charge depending on how many weeks you’ve been attending.
Lecture attendance is important, all students need to maintain a 75% attendance percentage. If you’re not meeting this requirement at the beginning of your studies a warning email will be sent out to your Webmail account. Failure to attend or communicate with the Helpdesk may result in the withdrawal of the module.
Removal from modules may have significant impact on your studies both financially and could result in a possible withdrawal from the course.
You must have passed a module in semester A prior to registering and studying on module for semester B, found at level 2 & 3. This ensures that you have prior knowledge of module A in order to successfully study module B.
All details of re-requisite can be found within the module combination grids within UEL Plus Helpdesk Noticeboard.
