Brief biography

I have worked at UEL since the beginning of 1999 and currently fulfil the roles of Programme Leader, for our Honours Degrees in Sports Coaching & Sports Development, and Admissions Tutor for all under-graduate programmes. Outside of these roles and teaching I coordinate our work with regard to developing our students' employability, through identifying a range of voluntary and paid opportunities for them to gain relevant vocational experience.

Activities and responsibilities

My teaching responsibilities focus around the area of Sports Development, looking at the issues surrounding how to increase involvement in sport and physical activity by all sections of the community. In addition I lead our level 2 and 3 modules on Work-Based Learning.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Major area of interest is sport and disabled people where I have nearly 25 years of experience. My work in this area has developed links with a range of local (e.g. School Sports Partnerships & local authorities), Regional (e.g. Interactive) and National agencies (e.g. Youth Sport Trust, English Federation of Disability Sport).

Specific area of current work is around the identification of talented disabled young sportspeople, particularly those in mainstream schools, with an eye to developing performers for the 2012 Paralympic Games and beyond.
