Brief biography

Since gaining a doctorate in the field of plant molecular biology from the University of Cambridge I have spent a number of years working as a researcher/lecturer at several institutions in London and the USA. Most of my research experience has been in the area of plant gene expression. In my present post at UEL I am teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels mainly on Molecular Biology and Biotechnology programmes. My research is focussed on the production of therapeutic proteins in plant cell cultures.

Current research and publications

Briefly, my current research interests involve heterologous gene expression systems and plant biotechnology. I am mainly interested in the control of foreign gene expression in bacteria, yeast and plants, particularly the production of therapeutic proteins in plant cells. To this end we are focussing on over expression of human adenosine deaminase in yeast and plant cells.
