Brief biography

After retiring in 2002 from the post of research professor at the UEL, I was appointed to an emeritus professorship. Since then I continued to supervise a PhD student (now graduated), carry out laboratory-based research on flow cytometry, publish research papers and was editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Rose Science (Elsevier Press).

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

My academic experience is in the field of genetics and plant science. My research has focussed mainly on woody plants, particularly roses, including their tissue culture, cytogenetics and pathology.

Current research and publications

The development and use of techniques for measuring nuclear DNA amounts of plants by flow cytometry.
