Research Strategy 2009-2014

Mission statement

The School of Health, Sport and Bioscience is committed to deliver and promote excellent research and knowledge exchange that aims to make a difference to health and wellbeing locally, nationally and internationally. This will be achieved within well-funded and structured collaborations within the School, across the University and beyond.

Strategy

Developing excellence in our research and knowledge exchange which is both recognised and relevant locally, nationally and internationally requires us to:

  • Build research and knowledge exchange capacity with the school
  • Maintain and strengthen our research and knowledge exchange environment
  • Develop relationships with research and knowledge exchange funders and users of research (e.g. policy-makers, practitioners and the public)
  • Maximise the impact of our research through knowledge exchange and other activities
  • Generate external funding
  • Communicate our research to the scientific and social scientific community in the form of peer refereed journal articles, books, research and knowledge exchange reports and conference presentations
  • Engage with, and communicate our research to policy-makers, practitioners and the public
