Introduction to the Applied Biology & Biomedical Science

As our knowledge of the biological sciences has progressed much effort has been put into understanding the causes and alleviating the effects of human disease. This has resulted in the establishment of a fast developing body of knowledge about a wide range of areas in modern biology concerned with aetiology, diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Scientists trained in these subjects could find themselves working to provide routine scientific data to help physicians to make informed decisions about treatment, or carrying out research and development directed at medical problems.

Some of these degree programmes may be studied as a major, joint or minor part of a combined honours degree.

Programmes within Applied Biology & Biomedical Science:

  • Biomedical Sciences (BSc (Hons)) (accredited by the IBMS)
  • Applied Biology (BSc (Hons))
  • Immunology (Combined Honours) (B.Sc (Hons))
  • Human Biology (Combined Hons.) (BSc (Hons))
  • Medical Microbiology (Combined Honours) (BSc (Hons))
