Can I get clinical experience on these programmes?

There is no clinical component to the MSc Physiotherapy Programme. There is a clinical component in the PGCert in Neurological Rehabilitation, but this is arranged by the student and undertaken in the student’s own workplace within the UK. This placement is not provided or arranged by UEL. Students must already be HPC registered to undertake the PGCert in Neurological Rehabilitation.

Will this programme entitle me to practice in the UK?

Will this programme give me HPC registration?

These post graduate programmes are designed for those who already hold a professional qualification. They will not give you a qualification if you do not already have one. Health professionals with international qualifications may find that completion of one of our programmes can assist in applying for registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Individuals must apply directly to the HPC. UEL will provide references but is not able to apply on your behalf. NB: You must be registered with the HPC in order to practice as a physiotherapist or podiatrist in the UK.

When can I start my course?

All fulltime MSc students must start in Semester A in September. We do not offer a Semester B February intake on this programme. Some of the PG certificates start in Semester B in February.

The modules and programmes offered within the Post Graduate Framework for Health Professions will run subject to availability of university staff resources and a sufficient number of applicants enrolling. Not every programme or every module in will run every year. For further information please contact the Professional Health Sciences Programme leader.

How many hours a week do I have to attend?

The teaching year is divided into two semesters of roughly equal length. See the UEL Academic Calendar.

A typical full-time student will study two 30 credit modules per semester and a typical part-time student will study one 30 credit module per semester. 30 credits is the equivalent of 300 hours of student effort. A full time semester would typically include 6 hours per week for 12 weeks of class based activity. This may be offered on a weekly basis, or as blocks of teaching, with students attending up to a week at a time, on 2-3 occasions in one semester. You will then need to spend the remaining time studying with fellow students, or on your own. Attendance is compulsory and is monitored.

What types of assessments are used on this programme?

For details see the relevant programme specification. We do not routinely use unseen written exams in these programmes. You will be required to submit all course work in a standardised word processed format. We expect all students to be proficient in the use of computers and the internet.

A programme leading to a Masters award consists of 180 credits at Level M and will include a 60 credit level M core module of advanced independent research.
