The School, which is located at the University’s Stratford Campus, aims to provide a positive learning experience for all its students within the constraints imposed by the physical environment and budget. Independent learning is encouraged by supporting student and staff access to specialised research and laboratory facilities, computerised networks and databases, both within the School and in the university library, and specialist accommodation for our professional courses.
Opened in April 2006 our Centre for Clinical Education provides clinical training facilities in podiatry and physiotherapy as well as complementary and herbal medicine, massage and acupuncture. The new Centre is London’s only provider of clinical and training facilties in podiatry and builds on our excellent reputation as a provider of education in physiotherapy, podiatry, sports science, professional health studies and subjects allied to medicine.
A crucial link point between staff and students is provided by the School’s Helpdesk. Located in UH104, the help desk is the hub of the School. Here students can pick up lecture notes and marked work, hand in assignments and find out information.

The University Library is an integral part of student learning support, with a wealth of resources and services. These include books, journals, newspapers, videos and CD-ROM and computer databases for use. For books and articles not in stock a comprehensive interloans system is available, enabling the Library staff to acquire any material required. The main library is situated within the Stratford Campus at University House. Among the Library staff there are specialist librarians, who provided tuition and can give assistance in finding relevant information.
The University has reciprocal arrangements with various libraries in the Greater London area and, through a student membership arrangement; our students also have access to the British Library.
The School has a good range of equipment, with a rolling programme to improve its quality and quantity. Students have access to six IT laboratories containing almost 70 PCs. Each PC is connected to the university network, and can be used to access a wide range of software, which includes Microsoft Office and statistical packages, as well as access to email and the internet.
All students have log-in codes and access to space on the mainframe. Computing facilities within the School are open from 8.30am to 9pm and are provided with technical support. Each member of staff and postgraduate research student has their own computer, all connected to the university network and to the Internet.
The School is situated in purpose-built accommodation. Lecture theatres, teaching and seminar rooms are provided from the university pool. Accommodation for postgraduate teaching is good, taught courses having their own base rooms and/or designated teaching rooms. Postgraduate research students are accommodated in one of two postgraduate rooms, with their own workspaces, or in the postgraduate centre. There is also a help desk and resource centre. Social accommodation at Stratford comprises two refectories and a student bar complex.
The canteen is open during the day all week and in the evenings on nights when teaching occurs. It offers affordable snacks and hot meals in the day and evening.
