Health and Safety Training

Training is a vital part of the Occupational Health and Safety Team’s Role and we organise and run a wide range of courses. See schedule of forthcoming courses now. The Corporate Health and Safety Induction and subsequent two yearly combined refresher training in manual handling and fire safety are mandatory. In addition, if staff member is to be part of a School or Service risk assessment team they must also attend the risk assessment training.

Fire Safety Awareness

Fire Safety Awareness

The two-hour workshop blends information, exercises and DVDs and covers areas such as legislation, risk assessment, fire detection and alarm and action in the event of fire.

Manual Handling

Theory and practical elements in a two-hour course that teaches you how to avoid injury when handling and lifting. You will learn about the science behind good and bad manual handling and practical techniques, such as risk assessment, to ensure your safety.

Comfortable clothing and shoes are essential, and if you have a physical condition that may prevent you from taking part please contact us in advance at l.bell@uel.ac.uk.
