Occupational Health ( OH )

UEL has an in-house Occupational Health service designed to safeguard the health, welfare and safety of all our staff. Activities are largely preventative and key roles include:

  • Advising members of staff on potential or actual health problems
  • Assessing and monitoring potential health hazards due to work activities
  • Providing targeted and tailored pre-employment screening, health screening and health education/promotion
  • Control and monitoring of stress
  • Rehabilitation and fitness for work
  • Advice on sickness absence management.

It’s important to note that our Occupational Health service is not designed to provide services that you would normally access via your GP or other medical specialists.

Our confidentiality rules

Medical information provided by you or obtained from records is strictly private and confidential and will not be made available elsewhere without your permission. The only information shared with managers is a professional opinion on ability and fitness for work and this is provided without discussing any confidential medical details.

The only exception to this rule is when an individual’s life may be at risk because of failure to disclose medical information, or for specific Police requests under certain circumstances.
