The UEL Medicinal Herb Garden was the brainchild of Martin Logue, Jamie Freeman and Dr Barbara Pendry all staff in the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience. It was officially opened by
Dr Henry Oakeley on 28th July 21011. Dr Oakeley is the Garden Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians
and is an expert on medicinal herb gardens and plants.

The garden is located to the rear of the Centre for Clinical Education building, on the Stratford Campus. It covers roughly 200m² and includes an electricity substation. The garden was funded by the UEL Challenge Fund and much of the construction and planting was completed by Martin and Jamie. The layout of the garden was based on designs by groups of UEL students from the School of Arts and Digital Industries and the School of Health, Sport and Bioscience.
