The Herbal Medicine Clinic offers high quality Western Herbal Medicine at very reasonable rates. Patients are seen and a full case history taken under the supervision of a qualified practitioner. An individual herbal prescription is formulated and dispensed only after all aspects of the case have been considered. As this is a training clinic, the cost on consultations and herbal medicine is subsidised and very affordable.
This clinic is approved by the National Institute of Medicinal Herbalists (NIMH), the oldest and largest professional organisation for practising Medical Herbalists in existence.
If you are interested in studying herbal medicine, we offer a full programme in that field.
The initial consultation lasts approximately one hour. The medical herbalist will build a comprehensive picture of your health and lifestyle. You may require an examination to aid diagnosis. If a herbalist feels that it is more appropriate for you to be treated by a doctor or another practitioner, a referral will be made.
Together the patient and medical herbalist will formulate a treatment plan. This may include diet and lifestyle changes alongside herbal remedies. Herbal remedies are usually given in the form of a liquid concentrate but teas, tablets or creams may also be prescribed. To monitor progress, the second appointment (of approximately 30 minutes), is usually two weeks after the initial. Subsequent appointments occur monthly.
