Stratford Bees

Bees in the herb garden

Bees are amazing - not only do they fulfil a vital role in our ecosystem, they are one of the most complex and sophisticated living things in the history of evolution. Bees are responsible for pollinating 75% of the world's food crops. Without bees our world would be unimaginable

Bees may be struggling in the UK, but not at UEL. We have a thriving population of bees, from honey bees to bumbleebees.Ten ways to help our bees are listed below (courtesy of Help Save the Bees).

Honey Bees

Honeycomb2

In 2012 our very own Beekeeper Angela Ng introduced a bee hive to the Stratford Campus. The bee hive was sited in a quiet location to ensure the bees would be disturbed as little as possible. We're delighted to say, it has worked. In September 2012, a few lucky UEL staff members had the opportunity of trying this sensational honey!
