Staff cycle shelter
Secure, lockable bicycle shelters are available for staff on both campuses. There is a one-off charge of £24, which includes a personal key, designated cycle bay and access to all shelters when visiting other campus sites. Duncan House features a secure area of the basement, where the same charges and operating conditions apply. Cycle to Work Scheme
The Cycle to Work Scheme gives employees access to a brand new, tax-free bike. It is essentially a ‘salary sacrifice scheme’ where staff enter into a hire agreement with UEL over an 18 month period without having to pay Tax or National Insurance on payments.
Therefore, by combining tax and national insurance savings, the cost of hiring a bicycle and cycle equipment may be reduced by up to 33% for basic rate tax payers and up to 41% for higher rate tax payers. The scheme is operated by HR Services, see section 'C' of the Employee Handbook for further information.
Season ticket loan
Employees can apply for an interest-free season ticket loan is repaid through monthly salary deductions. This saves both time and money as you don’t have to renew your travel card each month and annual tickets are usually cheaper than monthly tickets.
