UK legislation requires that we minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment by reducing the amount of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) going to landfill. UEL has a policy (UEL staff and student access only) and a range of facilities in place to ensure that reuse and recycling of WEEE is increased.
Computers, monitors, laptops, keyboards, mice, cables, printers, photocopiers, fax machines, audio visual equipment, TVs and electrical office equipment are removed by new supplier Computer Disposals Ltd. The range includes general office machinery, such as air conditioning units, shredders, laminators and binders as well as CCTV equipment and electronic lab equipment.
If you wish to dispose of these items, please contact the relevant member of IT staff to request a collection.
Unwanted phones, handsets and mobile phones can be sent to the Telecommunications department. There is also a small reserve of working mobile phones available and there is a recycling scheme in operation. Contact Paul Ash on x2102 or p.ash@uel.ac.uk.
