An important way of reducing carbon dioxide emissions is to cut down on private car use. Whether you are coming to UEL to work, study, or visit or are travelling between campuses, there are alternatives that have less impact on the environment.
There are a number of ways of getting to UEL in a more sustainable way including walking, cycling, using public transport and car sharing. UEL is also in the process of producing a Sustainable Travel Plan, which will be available online when it is completed.
Staff who regularly commute to UEL via public transport may wish to consider taking advantage of a season ticket loan.
The Greenway is a level, almost continuous and straight traffic-free route that passes through East London. It conveniently connects the Stratford and Docklands campuses, so you can cycle from Stratford High Street to Beckton. NOTE: there are currently diversions in place on the Greenway between Pudding Mill Lane station and Stratford High Street. See the links below for details.
You can also read more information on cycling incentives at UEL, such as the Cycle to Work bicycle-purchasing scheme or the locked cycle shelters for staff.
