Fairtrade guarantees a fair price for disadvantaged producers in the developing world and promotes investment in social, environmental and business schemes in the wider community.
The University of East London is proud to have been reaccredited our Fairtrade University status in January 2012, on our first anniversary. We celebrated this achievement with a homemade Fairtrade Cake for all staff and students.
We stock a range of Fairtrade products in all of our food outlets and we celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight, to raise awareness of the Fairtrade campaign.
On campus, the Fairtrade and Sustainable Catering Steering Group, made up of staff, students and representatives from the Students' Union, look after everything Fairtrade on campus. Dates of the next Fairtrade and Sustainable Catering Steering Group Meeting will be announced on our events page. If you would like to get involved in raising awareness of Fairtrade at UEL, please, get in touch with Emily Hamilton, Sustainability Officer.
Helping is easy: the first step that you can take is to choose Fairtrade when you shop. We have recipes to suit all tastes and budgets.Whether you’re a stranger to the stove or a cooking pro, you won’t be able to resist trying out some of our fantastic Fairtrade Recipes.
