UEL is committed not just to reducing our own footprint and managing our environmental impacts but also to reach out and promote the sustainability agenda outside our campuses. We do this through excellent research institutes and an increasing focus on bringing sustainability into the curriculum across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, ensuring that UEL graduates are 'sustainability literate'.

Follow the links on the left to read more about the projects our research groups are working on, the sustainability-related modules and courses available in the UEL curriculum and to see a list of contacts in the UEL Sustainability Network. The network is a group of mainly academic staff members who have professional interests in areas related to sustainability.
The Sustainability Team supports and encourages the embedding of 'Education for Sustainable Development' (ESD) and is here to provide advice for any academics and researchers who wish to explore options for including sustainability into coursework, projects or as a one-off lecture. Please see the Curriculum page for links to external resources.
