Research Research

The University of East London subscribes to ResearchProfessional - the leading source of research funding opportunities and funding guidance and news for UK researchers.

This service’s unique, easy-to-use interface and powerful searching and customisation features mean that it is relied upon by academics in over 90% of the UK’s top 100 universities. Using ResearchProfessional regularly will strengthen your research and help you develop your career.

ResearchProfessional is available to all staff and research degree students at our University from any networked computer. Just go to ResearchProfessional to browse thousands of internationally-available opportunities, ranging from the world’s richest medical charities to niche sponsors that may be just what your research needs. And don’t worry – every funding opportunity has been verified by ResearchResearch, so you’ll never see an opportunity that you’re not eligible to apply for.

To get the most from ResearchProfessional, you are advised to register online for a personal account - this allows you to personalise the service, set up individualised email alerts and use the service off campus i.e. at home, conferences etc. It's a very simple process taking less than 5 minutes to complete. Just click the "Self Registration" button in the centre box on the ResearchProfessional entry page, and complete the online form and click OK to create your account. You will then be logged-on and can set up email alerts, customising the information you’ll receive - so that only relevant funding opportunities appear in your inbox. It should be a quick and easy task for you to set up your own account, but if you have trouble please contact Tim Brooks in the Graduate School for assistance.

ResearchProfessional is a valuable resource that’s freely available on your desktop. As well as funding opportunities, an entire section of the website is dedicated to funding guidance, providing a unique resource to help you win support. These pages explain how to find suitable sponsors, when to draft a letter of enquiry and how to make applications that succeed.

A “Quick Start Guide” can be downloaded by clicking here (you will need to follow the "campus access" link). This will give you further guidance on setting up your account and customising your searches.

The Graduate School usually runs short training sessions about the ResearchProfessional service as part of the Researcher Development Programme.

If you have any queries regarding the service please contact Tim Brooks in the UEL Graduate School or call 0208 223 2421
