An Investigation of Postgraduate Research Study at the University of East London: Factors affecting completion, retention and withdrawal  (working title)

About The Project

On these pages you will find information on the research project on factors affecting completion, retention and withdrawal among postgraduate research students studying at UEL. The project was being undertaken by Fiona Cobb in the Graduate School.

As the working title suggests, the aim of this project, is both to produce a model of factors affecting completion and withdrawal, and to investigate the student experience to find out what factors may deter students’ from, or lead to decisions to, withdraw from study at the university.

The improved understanding of student issues which will result from this project will inform future areas of investment in PGR provision at the University, enabling us to provide in the most appropriate support for our students.

Methods

A mixed method approach is being used for the research project: statistical modelling and focus groups.  Further information on the focus groups is available on the focus group page by clicking the link to the left.
