On these pages you will find information about the research project on factors affecting completion, retention and withdrawal among postgraduate research students studying at UEL. The project is being undertaken by Fiona Cobb, Research Fellow in the Graduate School.
As the working title suggests, the aim of this project is both to produce a model of factors affecting completion and withdrawal, and to investigate the student experience to find out what factors may deter students from, or lead to decisions to, withdraw from study at the University.
The improved understanding of postgraduate research student issues which will result from this project will inform future areas of investment in PGR provision at the University, enabling us to provide the most appropriate support for our students.
A mixed methods approach is being used for the research project: statistical modelling and focus groups. Further information about the focus groups is available on the focus groups page, by clicking the link to the left.
For further information, or to discuss the research project, please contact Fiona Cobb on f.cobb@uel.ac.uk
