Brief biography:
Paul was formerly director of research in a wide range of public sector organisations, charities, national campaigning bodies and private consultancy companies. These include major Local Authorities, the Probation Service and the College of Health. He is an active current contributor to national crime policy and general research methodology debates inside and outside Government.
Paul is former leader of a number of public sector research membership associations, including the National Probation Research Association and the Social Services Research Group. He was, for a number of years, the paid Director of the British Society of Criminology and paid Secretary to the Penal affairs Consortium. In the latter roles he was the organiser of a wide range ofnational an international conferences and projects providing knowledge exchange opportunities between the academic and public sectors. He has served on research committees of the Chief Probation officers Association, the Association of Directors of Social Services, the Department of Health and the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Paul Kiff is a leading exponent of active academic knowledge exchange with the public and voluntary sector. His work is often highly confidential and so rarely results in academic publication but reports of his various projects are available for scrutiny if required. He currently holds a part-time visiting scholarship at the Institute of Criminology at Cambridge University to study the costs and benefits of Justice Reinvestment.
