Dr. Lawal has worked on research focusing on areas such as environmental management, land use change, landscape ecology, spatial analysis/GIS, watershed management and climate change. Between 2002 and 2005, he was a member of the research team at the Institute for Soil Science and Land Evaluation (IBS), University of Hohenheim (UOH) working on two multinational projects. Within these two projects, he has contributed to the maintenance of the SOTER database (soil and terrain database), watershed delineation, land use/cover mapping from remotely sensed dataset, data integration (soil and climate data), data quality control and modeling operations (using NetLogo, SWAT and EPIC model). Furthermore, he has worked on modeling of impact of land use changes on watershed hydrology in West Africa and was actively involved in field data collection and analysis (e.g. GHG emission from representative soil within German Research Foundation funded project “Strategies to reduce the emission of GHG and Environmental toxic agents from Agriculture and Landuse”). Dr. Lawal is currently a Lecturer of Environmental Management (City and Islington College) and also works as a visiting researcher at the Centre.
