Student Records

Registry s responsible for entering and maintaining students’ records on the university’s database.  It is essential that we have a record of every student and that these records are accurate throughout the year.

Enrolment and re-enrolment is not optional!

The normal means of enrolment is on-line (through UEL-Direct).

Click on the following links for more information

New Students

It is really important that we have a home email address for you as, once you have a formal offer of a place, an email will be sent to you with instructions for enrolling via UEL-Direct.  If you have an email address but did not put it on your application form, please email it to finance.registry@uel.ac.uk (remembering to give your full name, student number and programme offered).

Please see the UEL Direct Demonstration pages on the IT Services webpages. If you have problems logging in to UEL-Direct please telephone our help desk on 020 8223 2468 or email servicedesk@uel.ac.uk

Even if you do not have a home email address, once your application has been accepted you will also have a student email account which you should check regularly.

You can enrol on-line from any web-enabled computer at any time of the day or night. If you have no means of accessing the web, we will send you an enrolment pack or invite you to enrol in person.

Continuing Students

Re-enrolment also takes place online via UEL Direct. Towards the end of your year of study an email will be sent to to your student account telling you how this will take place. Your ID card remains valid for the duration of your programme provided that you have re-enrolled (and paid any fees due).

All students who are intending to continue their programme of study MUST re-enrol each year.

Amendments to Your Record

You are responsible for keeping all your contact details up to date via UEL Direct. This includes your:

  • home address
  • home email address
  • term-time address
  • telephone numbers (mobile and landline)
  • emergency contact person’s details

If you do not keep these up-to-date you may not receive important communications (many of which are sent by email) and any certificate you are awarded could go astray.

As a student you have your own, unique UEL Direct account. This enables you to log on anywhere and anytime, in order to check or update personal data, access information, check timetables and much more.

It is essential that the Registry is notified of any other amendments to your student record. If you want to change your programme or mode of attendance, or want to intermit (take some time out from your studies), you must agreed this with your School. Whatever changes are agreed, your School will notify us.

If you are a part-time student, we do a reconciliation each semester of the modules you are taking against the tuition fees that you have been charged to ensure that you are charged the correct amount.

Students who pay their own fees (or whose family pay their fees)

Please refer to the Fees Policy for details of how to pay your tuition fees. Fees should be paid at the point of enrolment and before you start your programme of study.

You may be eligible for a discount if you pay your fees early. You will find details of all payment options in the Fees Policy. However if at any time you have difficulty in paying your fees, you should contact the Credit Control Team immediately. You must do this early enough so that you can still complete your enrolment before your programme starts.

Contact telephone numbers for the Credit Control Team is +44 (0)20 8223 7526
