Cashiers

The Cashiers Office is responsible for receiving, recording and banking payments to the University. Most of the payments are for tuition fees but income is also received for:

  • rents for student residences;
  • grants to the University;
  • payments for the loss of library books;
  • conferences

Tuition fee income comes from the students themselves, the Student Loans Company, local education authorities, and from employers or other organisations that are sponsoring students.

Payments to the University are made by draft, credit card, debit card, cash, cheque and bank transfer.

The work of staff in the Cashiers’ Section includes:

  • taking payments over the counter, by post and by telephone
  • recording payments made directly to the University’s bank account and the on–line card payment facility
  • making petty cash payments to staff
  • recording payments received against debts
  • dealing with queries concerning payments
  • liaising with colleagues in other parts of the Financial Services and UEL, in particular, the Credit Control Team and Student Services

Face to face

During the advertised opening times we accept the following payment methods on a face to face basis:

  • Cash
  • Credit and debit cards
  • Bankers draft. Full name and student number must be written on the back of the banker’s draft.

Online service

UEL also provides an online service which can be accessed 24/7, just log in to UEL DIRECT, go into ‘My Record’ and follow the links.

Bank Transfers

UEL provides a service whereby you can transfer funds straight into the UEL bank account. Details of our bank account can be found by clicking on How to Pay Money to UEL. Please ensure that your student number and full name is used as a reference.
