The Care Leavers Bursary is an award of £1,000 per year which is given to students who live in or have lived in care.
Any full-time undergraduate ‘home’ student under the age of 25 who lives in, or has ever lived in, local authority care. The bursary is worth £1,000 per year and is paid in two instalments of £500, one at the beginning of each semester. Care leavers are able to receive an award for each year of their studies.
‘Care Leavers’ aged under 25 should write to the UEL Student Money Advice and Rights Team (address below) requesting the bursary and enclosing a letter from their social worker, caseworker or Home manager confirming that they are a ‘care leaver’ and the addresses and dates of their residence in care.
