Care Leavers Accommodation Bursary

What is the Care Leavers Accommodation Bursary?

A bursary of £1,000 which is available to help new-entrant care leavers and foyer residents with the costs of accommodation.  There are a limited number available and they are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who can get the Care Leavers Accommodation Bursary?

UEL counts a prospective student as a care leaver if they:

  • Are a young person preparing to leave the care of their local authority andcoming to university on a full time basis to study an undergraduate course (first degree) as a 'home' student.
  • Have been living with foster-carers or in a children’s home for at least 13 weeks, and, where the local authority has had legal parental responsibility for them.
  • Have told us about their care background and will be able to provide evidence that they have been in care.
