ASICS/UEL Athletic Scholarships

What are the ASICS/UEL Athletics Scholarships?

The ASICS/UEL Athletics Scholarships are awards of £5,000.  Two awards are made to students each year, and will be for the next five years.

Who can apply?

The funding is available to student athletes studying for any undergraduate or postgraduate course. The scholarships will be awarded using a competitive process based on athletic performance (potential contribution to BUCS) and good academic standing. Receiving the scholarship each year will be conditional on both good sporting and academic progress. The scholarships are open to Home, EU and international students.

Applicants should be competing at a national or international level, and agree to the following contractual conditions of the scholarship:

  • Compete for UEL in BUCS competitions
  • Commit to at least 10 hours of specified ambassadorial activity on behalf of ASICS
  • Commit to at least 10 hours of specified ambassadorial activity on behalf of UEL
  • Not be under contact to any other kit provider or conflicting sponsor
  • Maintain and improve their current performance level (as described in the application)

Students not adhering to the contractual details of their scholarship will have their award immediately cancelled at the discretion of the High Performance Sport Manager and ASICS.  In the event of injury or illness, scholars will have their award reviewed and support allocated based on immediate needs at the discretion of the High Performance Sport Manager.
