Student Financial Assistance Grants

What are the Annual Fund Student Financial Assistance Grants?

The Student Financial Assistance Grants are worth £500.  They are awarded to first year UK and EU undergraduate students who face severe financial difficulties that hamper their education and may jeopardise their ability to continue with their education. The sum will only be considered if it makes a real difference in enabling the student to continue with their study and will be paid to successful applicants in arrears in the following September after the application is completed.

Who is eligible for the Grant?

First year UK and EU undergraduate students who face severe financial difficulties that hamper their education and may jeopardise their ability to continue with their education may apply.

How do I apply?

The application process now does not reopen until March 2013. Students wishing to apply should visit the following website in early March 2013; http://www.uel.ac.uk/engagement/AFG.htm here they will be able to download and complete the Annual Fund Financial Assistance Grant application form. Completed application forms should be returned to development@uel.ac.uk by Friday 29th March

The deadline for the receipt of completed applications is Friday 29th March to submit your application please complete the form and return to development@uel.ac.uk.

Applications will be assessed by Head of Student Money Advice and Rights Team, and Alumni Development Manager in June 2013.  Successful candidates will be notified on or shortly after 5th August 2013.

Grants will be awarded at the Annual Fund Awards Ceremony in September 2013 or shortly after if the applicant is unable to attend.
