Teacher training (PGCE) fees and funding 2013/14

Fees for the academic year 2012/13 all full-time Home and EU students studying on an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme will be announced in the autumn of 2011.  Please watch this website for updates.

Loans and grants

Home ITT students from the UK will be treated in the same way as undergraduate students for funding purposes, and should apply online to Student Finance England for loans and grants.  EU students who have come to the UK purely for the purpose of attending a teacher training course will be eligible to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan only.

Bursaries

Home and EU students studying for the PGCE may also be eligible for a Teacher Development Agency (TDA) bursary

Primary

Bursaries are no longer available for students studying on the PGCE ITT Primary programme.

Secondary

Bursaries for full-time Home or EU eligible students studying on the ITT Secondary programme will be announced in the autumn of 2013.  Please check the Direct gov website for updates.  Bursaries are paid in nine monthly instalments, commencing October 20132, directly into a UK bank account.

Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET)

Full-time Home or EU students studying on a Further Education (Post-16) ITT programme will be eligible, if they are not in paid employment within a teaching role, to receive a Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Bursary on priority subjects.  This will be paid in nine monthly instalments, commencing October 2012, directly into a UK bank account.
