

The works are to provide new building accommodation for the School of Education, a new computer building housing a 400 seat lecture theatre, teaching space and a book shop.

The Secondary teacher training at UEL has been rated as amongst the best in the country. In the most recent full Ofsted inspection of the secondary PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) provision in 2005, was awarded a Grade 1(top grade) for Management and Quality Assurance for the second year running and also a Grade 1 for Modern Languages teacher training (Ofsted 2004).
