Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.’ Ralph Waldo Emerson
UEL is committed to developing staff networks as one way of promoting staff participation and good relationship in the university. Recognition of and respect for diversity among staff can have a positive effect on the performance of staff at all levels in the organisation.
Work is in progress to develop a number of networks including a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Staff Network.
The network aims to improve the working environment, career progression and development prospects of staff from all ethnic groups. This will be achieved through working with other equality based groups, senior managers, schools and services to ensure that joint approaches are adopted whenever appropriate to combat direct or indirect discriminatory practices in the workplace.
