Firmly rooted in the proud history and identities of East London’s communities and determined to invest in an ambitious programme of campus and academic development during 2009-2013, UEL is a great university to support.

Coupling an historical location and thriving history with innovative teaching and research, UEL has become one of London’s finest modern universities, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In particular, our research programmes are relevant to the needs of our communities, both locally and globally. We undertake research and knowledge exchange that makes real and significant contributions to the lives of people.

There is no doubt that the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games are a hugely exciting development and one which will help raise the university’s profile even further. However, I am particularly keen to ensure that there is a real legacy for the people of East London. As a university we will work in close partnership with other key players to ensure that the communities who host the 2012 Games will in time, by virtue of that legacy, be able to secure the same social and economic chances as their neighbours across London

Our university sits at the heart of the London Thames Gateway, the biggest urban regeneration area in Europe. The area is unique because of its history, landscape and potential. The future of East London is rife with exciting developments that will irreversibly transform the lives of our communities and will bring an exciting array of possibilities for growth and prosperity of our region. Our development plans are integral to these transformations, and our courses and research programmes underpin many successful industries and businesses in East London. Be part of our UEL Community.
