Annual Fund Awards Ceremony - Wednesday 29th September 2010
We are pleased to announce that the University of East London hosted its very first Annual Fund Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 29th September 2010. The event was hosted by Baroness Margaret Prosser OBE, who is not only a member of the Alumni Network, but also a donor and an Honorary Award Holder. She was joined on the stage by UEL's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick McGhee, guest speaker Kate Hunter, Executive Director of CASE UK and Dr Fariba Salehi, Head of Development and Alumni.
The evening provided a chance to celebrate the success of the Annual Fund since its establishment 18 months ago; acknowledge and thank the support of our alumni, honorary graduates and other Friends of UEL of the Annual Fund; and present the first set of Annual Fund awards: Student Hardship Grants and Start-Up Research Grants to successful grant applicants. London Triathlon - Go Team UEL!
Team UEL also had great success at the London Triathlon on Saturday 7th August 2010. The University had 5 relay teams who entered the event, all of which finished in greats times, and raised nearly a £1000 towards the University's Annual Fund! Congratulations team UEL! If you would like to take part in a sporting event on behalf of the University of East London's Annual Fund, let us know on development@uel.ac.uk and we will happily support you in your fundraising mission!
