Team USA praise official training facility, SportsDock

Team USA have heaped praise onto the University's sports centre, SportsDock. The Team are using the facility as their offical high performance training centre for the duration of the London Games. SportsDock has already seen many famous athletes pass through its doors, including USA Basketballers Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

UEL pins down US wrestling superstar for special visit

Mark Henry, a weightlifter for the United States at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and current World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar, made a special visit to SportsDock on Thursday.  During the visit, Mark met with United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and 24 Hour Fitness staff, as well as SportsDock fitness staff.  When asked what he thought of SportsDock, Mark said: “It means a lot to have a facility like this. You want to be comfortable and train somewhere that you’re used to.” Read the full story

Travel advice – Monday 6 August

bullet  It will be particularly busy on the transport network tomorrow as the Olympic Stadium is in session all day, along with six other venues in the Olympic Park.

bullet  The Jubilee line will be very busy as Olympic Football is taking place at Wembley Stadium and events are taking place at North Greenwich Arena and ExCeL, as well as the Olympic Park.

bullet  Today is the last day that the Olympic Road Network to Wimbledon is in operation.

bullet  Central London is also expected to be very busy throughout the day with spectators going to the Beach Volleyball at Horse Guards Parade.
