Every day we will outline some of the main issues expected for the following day's travel via public transport and road.

You are advised to check official websites including getaheadofthegames.com, Transport for London live travel news and follow twitter feeds such as TfL Travel Alerts, TfL Traffic News and GetAheadof theGames

 

Travel advice - Friday 3 August

bullet  Friday will be exceptionally busy on the transport network as the Olympic Stadium opens for Athletics events.

bullet  Central London will be busy, particularly around the Horse Guards Parade for the Beach Volleyball.

bullet  The busiest times on public transport will be 7.30 - 10am and 4 -8pm. The DLR, Central, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines will be very busy throughout the day.

bullet Roads around Stratford will be particularly busy and the Olympic Road Network will be serving central London venues in Wembley, Wimbledon, Greenwich, ExCel, the Olympic Park and the Royal Artillery Barracks.

From 1948 to 2012: Olympic torches at SportsDock

Olympic torches from the 2012 and 1948 London Games are now on display at UEL's SportsDock. Natasha Hart, from the Newham All Stars Sports Academy, a local basketball team who train at SportsDock, handed over the 2012 torch at the sports centre yesterday.

The 2012 torch joins the 1948 torch, which was officially presented to SportsDock by Ron Cooper, a former Olympic boxer in July.

Can Judo star Gemma Gibbons get gold today?

Judo star, Gemma Gibbons, has gold in her sights today when she competes in the 70kg category this afternoon. Gemma, who graduated in Exercise Science and Health in 2011, has represented Team GB at senior world and European championships and is aiming for the top at her first Olympic Games.

Tune in to see Gemma face France in the semi-finals today at 2.20pm.
