Sneak preview of the Opening Ceremony

As a Hackney resident, Professor Mark McDermott from the School of Psychology was lucky enough to attend the dress rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony on Monday. Although the 60,000 or so people who attended were asked by artistic director, Danny Boyle, to #savethesurprise, Mark was able to tell us a little bit about what's in store (no spoilers here don't worry!)

Mark explained: "What was it like? Well, the words 'awesome, magnificent, a triumph' come to mind. In fact I would go so far as to say it was the most amazing live event I have witnessed in my 50 plus years! 'Surprise' is definitely the key word as the show has lots of big-scale surprises - I was definitely not expecting anything like it!"

Tune in tomorrow night from 9pm - 12.30am on BBC1 to see what all the fuss is about.
