Every day we will outline some of the main issues expected for the following day's travel via public transport and road.

You are advised to check official websites including getaheadofthegames.com, Transport for London live travel news and follow twitter feeds such as TfL Travel Alerts, TfL Traffic News and GetAheadof theGames

 

Travel advice – Sunday 5 August

bullet  Central London is expected to be exceptionally busy throughout the day due to large crowds watching the women’s Olympic Marathon and spectators going to the Beach Volleyball at Horse Guards Parade.

bullet  There will be road closures and restrictions along the Olympic Marathon route from 3am until a few hours after the race has finished.

bullet  The DLR, Central, Jubilee, Piccadilly and District lines will be very busy throughout the day.

bullet  The busiest times on public transport will be 9 – 11am, 1 – 2pm, and 4 – 7pm. Late evening, from 9pm to close, is expected to be busier than usual.

Team USA praise official training facility, SportsDock

Team USA have heaped praise onto the University's sports centre, SportsDock. The Team are using the facility as their offical high performance training centre for the duration of the London Games. SportsDock has already seen many famous athletes pass through its doors, including USA Basketballers Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Claire Smith gets involved with the Games

Yet another member of UEL staff is getting involved with the London 2012 Games. Claire Smith, who works as Try a Sport 365 Project Manager within UELSports, was selected to be a Venue Entry Team Member at the White Water Centre in Lee Valley. Claire, who is also working towards her MSc in Project Management, commented: "I’m really pleased to be involved in London 2012!"
