Additional Technologies

Throughout the university additional technologies are available to support teaching and learning. Some of the technologies listed below are available for everyone, others (generally hardware) may only be available in specific schools or departments.

Lime Survey UEL Survey Tool
The Open Source survey tool (Lime Survey) is available for users to create, deliver and administer surveys on the web. Lime Survey will enable you to create unlimited survey with one of twenty different question types.

Audacity (Audio Recording tool)
Audacity is a freely available tool for recording and editing audio. Audacity is available from the University Menu and enables users to record and edit audio directly onto a computer.

Windows Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker enables users to create, edit and share video clips. Video clips from a variety of sources can be edited together, credits and sub titles added and the video created in a suitable format for further use.

VFC Video File Converter
The Video File Converter (VFC) can be used to convert videos from a variety of sources e.g. a Flip Video, a Mobile Phone or a Digital Camera and make them accessible for UEL Plus / web use (as a Flash Video file).

Hardware

Turning Point Turning Point (Electronic voting kit)
TurningPoint is an interactive electronic voting system which works as a plug in to PowerPoint. Using TurningPoint you can create multiple choice question slides, view instant survey results and produce detailed reports.

MP3 recorder MP3 Recorders
MP3 recorders can be used to spoken audio when the user does not have direct access to a computer (e.g. whilst presenting a lecture). Once recorded, the audio can be edited and uploaded onto a platform such as UEL Plus.

Flip Video Recorder Flip Video Recorders
Flip video recorders can be used to record short video clips. Using the inbuilt microphone users can create video clips and transfer them directly onto a computer. The Flip Video comes with inbuilt software to enable editing.
